Studio One 4 Missing Files

Jul 14, 2015  How To Completely Remove Studio One - Windows. In order to be able to remove them, we need to make hidden files and folders visible first. Open the Windows Explorer, click on 'Organize', and select 'Folder and search options'. Select the 'View' tab, and in the 'Advanced settings' window, scroll down to 'Show hidden files, folders and drives.

Then, of course, there are the options to find missing files, remove unused files, and copy external files to the media folder of your song. I may have done something stupid.... not really sure. After exporting my song to the desktop in mp3 format, I reopened Studio one and my files were all listed as 'File Not Found'. I can find them in the Trash as WAV files, but can't figure out how to get them back onto the tracks where they belong. When I move them out of the Trash and onto the desktop and then try to drag into my Song, nothing happens. A little help?

Hi Doug,
1.Locate where your Studio One files are normally kept on your computer (whether Mac or PC)
2.Find your song file
3.copy and paste your .wav files from your desktop back into the folder 'Media' that will be located in your song's folder
If you have any other issues, please let me know!
Cheers,
Jason

Thanks for the tip.... I have to wait until tonight to try. So is there any way to avoid these files going missing when I mixdown to mp3? It has happened twice now and I'm certain that at least on the second time, I did not deliberately delete anything. After mixing down to mp3 and sending the mp3 to my desktop, the next time I opened the song file, all my files were listed as Not Found. I certainly appreciate the help.... love the program but am stymied by this problem. -D.

Doug,
You are welcome, sir.
I have been unable to reproduce this issue on my system. I would suggest that you be careful when setting up the export to .mp3,
take note of what your settings are. For testing purposes, try creating a TestSong and see if the export gives the same results. That
way you don't run the risk of messing up a song you care about
Cheers,
Jason

Oh.... there must be a few other users out there experiencing the same problem since I found at least two related strings on the user group pages. Happily. Audiocave was able to give me a few pointers as well. -D.

I was using S1 Artist & saving everything to a external hard drive, now that I have upgraded to Pro when I open my old tracks from Artist all the files are missing. i do 'locate file' & search in the external drive where I was saving everything & it only found one file. What am I missing?

No matter you lost the data stored file due to virus infections or any other reason. Matter is that how to handle this situation. I recommended a tool Kernel Recovery for iPod recovery software. The software recovers all corrupt, virus affected and deleted files. I already using this software that can provide good result. Refer this link : http://www.ipodfilerecovery.com

Hello, I unintentionally saw your post and fortunately just a few days ago, I was also considering which data recovery software is more user friendly, finally I tried kvisoft data recovery software which made me feel pretty good. You could go to their official website to have a try.

Hi, last night I was shutting down 'Studio One Artist' and I had a warning pop up reporting that windows or Studio One has stopped working. I then clicked OK and proceeded to save the song when asked. Today, when I try to find my song in 'recent files' nothing is showing up. Do I have any chance to recover this song?

Hi Willie.
The recent files list is populated from an xml file that gets updated when you close a song. Because S1 crashed before you closed the song at least once, it won't list there yet.
The song you worked on is still wherever you created it, just click menu File | Open and navigate to it and open it.

Usually when a song appears in the Recent Files and it wont open means you have moved it for some reason. Not showing at all means Studio One does not have that info yet. (or what Lawrence posted above. When you first create a session I find it is smart to actually save it again even before you do anything in it. The Recent Files list will show it the moment you close that session.)
Navigiate to the song folder with Studio One minimised and go right in and look to see you have and what you think should be there. eg Studio One session plus Audio Folder etc..Note: Unless you have created a session elsewhere Studio One may be putting this session file into its own Studio One folder on the C Drive. You must know the title of the file I assume.
You should be seeing the Studio Session files. Then try Opening a session by navigating there and click on it and see what comes up.
If you have a weird situation closing down for any reason I don't always agree to save the session again either. If you actually know that in fact you just saved the session earlier I find it is best sometimes to ignore that request and shut down and reboot etc..It may save a damaged version of the file over the top of what you had.

Clearing out recent files on the start page also clears out the song list. Unless you have your songs deleted, renamed, or compromised in some way, then there is still hope. You can just copy the songs from your songs file folder into your songs folder or whatever you have it named. The songs will re-populate and you will have the songs appear back in the songs start page. For recent files, just open the song from within the song folder and it will re-populate. I strongly recommend doing a backup of your songs to an external hard drive with a lot of storage space on it. I hope this helps.
